Bird Flu Alert (Avian Influenza)

Disease caused by a viral infection found in feces, respiratory, fluid, and blood of infected birds. One type to watch is caused by influenza viruses with H5N1 genetic code than can be transmitted from bird to bird turned out to be also transmitted from birds to humans. Clinical Symptoms 

The incubation period of avian influenza virus A (H5N1) about 2 - 4 days after infection, but based on recent reports the results of incubation period could reach between 4-8 days. Most of the patients showed symptoms of flu but are usually more severe, early symptoms of high fever (usually more than 38o C) and symptoms of flu and respiratory disorders.  How to Prevention 

1. Do not touch or take care of the sick birds or who had died suddenly.
2. Do not cut or take care of a sick bird in the home environment
3. Avoid the children to not touch or play with birds
4. Always wash hands with soap and water after taking care of birds
5. The tools used in the farm must be washed with disinfectant
6. Use a thick mask or shirt to cover nose and mouth when taking care of birds, especially chickens. Be careful to not rub the eyes, nose or mouth after handling or taking care of birds.
7. Cook meat or poultry eggs well before consumption. Livestock products should not be consumed stale. To consume chicken meat, cooked meat on the boiling temperature of more than 1 minute, because the AI virus will die at a temperature of 80 degrees Celsius for 1 minute warm-up.
